Knights of the Round

Knights of the Round Japan CPS Kit, Matching Serial # 0258014.

I picked this up from Yahoo! Auctions Japan.  The Kit is the resale version.  It’s in mint condition and the PCB itself looks NOS.

I haven’t played this game before and never saw it in the local arcades back in the day, but I remember seeing the Super Famicom conversion featured in Super Play magazine.  Being a massive fan of Capcom and scrolling fighters I’m really looking forward to playing this!

Welcome to Aero City

I recently collected a new cab from AeroCityMayor / Ralph.  Ralph was kind enough to show me around his awesome new games room.  Well I say games room, but really it’s a full blown Japanese arcade!  I enjoyed a few credits on Varth and Zero Gunner, two shooters I hadn’t played before.  Ralph’s arcade also has a dedicated mahjong cabinet and two Aeros’s featuring Super Street Fighter II X linked for VS play.  Very cool!

Ralph was kind enough to let me take some pictures of his awesome set up.

MVS Recent Additions Part 2 – Neo DriftOut and Ironclad Brikin’ger

Neo DriftOut, Matching Serial # 000010

The Neo DriftOut Kit serial number is 10!  The seller informed me that that the first 15 Kits were sent to an arcade operator in Italy.

Ironclad Brikin’ger MVS Conversion

I’m really looking forward to playing this awesome looking horizontal shooter, developed by Saurus, the team behind Shock Troopers.  I generally avoid conversions, preferring to stick to the original hardware.  However this seemed like a cool addition to my MVS collection, having only been officially released on the Neo Geo CD system.

At the moment I have the following games in the Neo SC-19:

1. Ganryu
2. Ironclad Brikin’ger
3. Pulstar
4. Sengoku 3

Final Blow

I recently received a NOS Final Blow Kit.  A local pub had this game back in the day, along with Toki and OutRun.  I remember playing this game and never really getting to grips with the controls, but I can’t resist NOS and it will be interesting to see how the game fares today.

Here Comes A New Challenger

Street Fighter Zero has been removed from the Yellow Cute, and in its place is the awesome Street Fighter III 2nd Impact: Giant Attack.  The board is revision 970930.

I have also cleaned the marquee holder with Novus and added some art.

MVS Recent Additions Part 1 – Blazing Star, Last Blade 2 and Metal Slug 5

I’ve gone a bit MVS crazy lately.  Here are some pictures of recent additions to my MVS collection.  I’m very pleased to get hold of Last Blade 2 English Kit.  It appears that during 98-99 SNK was focusing on the ill fated Hyper Neo Geo and MVS Kits had a small print run, other than Metal Slug and King of Fighters.

Last Blade 2, Matching Serial # 004272

Metal Slug 5, Matching Serial # 002384

P&O Pride of Burgundy

On a recent ferry crossing from Dover to Calais I was pleasantly surprised to find an arcade onboard.

The last time I made the ferry crossing was about twenty odd years ago on a school trip to France, and I remember being disappointed that they only had one game onboard - P.O.W.: Prisoners Of War, by SNK.  I wasn’t a fan of this game, maybe I’ll give it another go to see if it fares any better today.

It was good to see Daytona USA 2 and Time Crisis II, but it does seem a bit of a missed opportunity not having Deadstorm Pirates!
